Wanting/Wishing/Wearing
Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Mixed Denim Ensembles for Spring
Mixed denim is making a huge comeback. Seriously, I was just chatting with a girlfriend and we were both dying laughing that one of her recent dates showed up in acid wash denim jeans...and matching jacket. Now that's just taking it a bit too far. Plus, I don't think you should aim to match your mixed denim. Throw on a pair of acid washed skinnies with a dark denim vest. Or mix your baggy boyfriend jeans with an light wash button down.
When mixing and matching your denim, remember to take cues from the great inspirational combos above. My fave...def the D&G look. I love, love it so much and will attempt to emulate soon. I've also added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below with all the great denim pieces I can find under $100. There are some serious deals to be had out there.
Look below, see the AE Denim Vest for $39.50? I have one very similar (a vintage Levi's) and readers, it gets some serious wardrobe rotation. I just sported it this past Saturday with some dark denim skinnies to catch a movie. So yes, even I'm diving in and mixing my denim. Go get em, mix master and enjoy!

Outfit Inspiration: Warm Weather Getaway à la Dreamscape Watercolor by Laura Trevey

I love a good outfit inspiration. RWD Hubby and I were just chatting last night that we'd love to get to Mexico. He's been to Tijuana, once, when he was 18 years old. I've never been. It's not in the cards for this year, but maybe next year. We already have too many travel plans on the calendar to add more. But, with that being said, I am lusting and dreaming over a tropical vacation on this very dreary and rainy Austin, TX day.
The perfect ensemble for my imaginary traveling wishes would be a comfy dress, the perfect flip flops, great aviators and a stylish hat to keep the sun out of my face. I've incorporated all of those pieces and much more in my Dreamscape watercolor inspired look above. Sidenote: how awesome is this watercolor painting by Laura Trevey? You can purchase the original 3.5" x 11" painting from her Etsy store HERE for $50!
Our home is filled with a very similar color palette as Laura's painting so I could envision it looking quite 'at home' above our fireplace. You know how I love me an Etsy artisan for both HOME and FASHION! Well I just wanted to send some inspirational pieces your way...they are all pretty inexpensive and how fresh and enticing is that mustard colored bag too? Ahhhh, love it. Enjoy!

Runway to Reality: Dolce & Gabbana - Spring 2008 - Brocade Skirt, Sheer Blouse and Peep-Toe Booties
Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2008 Ready-to-Wear Collection overflowed with 50's fancy and sheer romance! Brocade fabrics covered everything from an oversized tuxedo jacket to classic cut trousers. Lady-like and overtly feminine were the main theme throughout the show...and also, something you should be opting for this Spring!
Featured above, model Snejana Onopka works the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Runway in a flirty, classic and exceptionally trendy look. Incorporating a SHEER blouse, a FULL SKIRT, a SKINNY BELT and spring-worthy peep toe booties, Dolce & Gabbana aimed to please and they did, just that!
I've added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below to show you the Dolce & Gabbana inspired look for DAY and NIGHT! How fun? Brocade skirts are going to be H-O-T for spring-time! They are super FUN and should find a place on your fashion radar, PRONTO! Pair them with feminine details like I did below; pearls, cameo rings, opaque tights, cuff bracelets and killer bags! The sheer shirt, belt, brocade skirt and peep-toe booties are ALL inspired from Dolce & Gabbana, so I can't take credit...but DO emulate because the lovely-lady-look will turn heads for sure!
